Heavy-duty Croco chain knocker with carbide, for metal, cast iron, ceramic and PVC pipe, optional drill head, for flexible shaft

This heavy-duty Croco chain knocker is designed for cleaning, descaling and clearing blockages in metal, cast iron and ceramic pipes. It can equally be used in PVC pipes.

Typical tasks are removing blockages, scale, tuberculation and failed liners – both in maintenance work and when preparing a pipe for relining.

Cutting action

The chain links carry tungsten carbide teeth fused to the cutting edge. The Croco chain therefore cuts strongly while working slightly less aggressively than an X-tip chain, which makes it suitable for controlled pipe preparation: the cross-pattern cutting design removes deposits and at the same time keys the pipe wall for the liner that follows.

The chain removes scale and tuberculation reliably, but works more slowly than a dedicated circular descaling chain designed specifically for that job.

Construction

The chain knocker is made from stainless steel to prevent oxidation and is adjustable: the hubs let you adapt it to different pipe sizes and also step it down one size. Each set contains three individual chains.

Centrifugal force centres the chain inside the pipe, so the entire inner circumference is cleaned. It is mounted to a 8mm, 10mm or 12mm flexible shaft with set screws.

Use

• Fit the chain knocker to the flexible shaft with the set screws
• Insert it into the pipe and start rotation
• Grind away deposits, roots or liner remnants
• Flush the pipe after cleaning to carry out the debris

For best results we recommend heavy-duty chains with a heavy-duty shaft of 10mm or 12mm.

This chain suits the Picote Maxi Miller, Super Midi and Midi Cleaner as well as the RIDGID K9-306 FlexShaft® machine, as these use 10mm and 12mm shafts.
