Product description

The cable in this tool can be driven by hand using the handle on the drum, or electrically with a power drill or cordless screwdriver (not included). The cable is 7.5m long with a 6.4mm diameter and handles household blockages caused by hair, food residue, paper, grease and the like.

The handle has a thumb rest that spreads the weight more evenly across your hand – something you notice when a job takes a while. At only 6.4mm, the cable itself is very flexible; the limit is set by the 16mm bulb auger head wound onto its tip. On a straight run you can work in pipes from 30mm upwards, while a run with 90-degree bends calls for at least 50mm internal diameter.

If hand cranking does not shift the blockage, connect a cordless screwdriver to the centred pin and start it up slowly. The plastic housing is lighter than sheet metal and cannot rust – an advantage if the tool sits in a cellar between jobs.

How to use it

Loosen the wing screw and pull the cable out of the drum to the length you need, then feed it directly into the pipe. Retighten the wing screw so the cable is clamped in place. Turning the handle while pressing gently on the cable bores carefully through the blockage. Alternatively, connect a power drill or cordless screwdriver to the pin in the centre – not to the nuts.

Important: Always start the cable slowly. If too much tension builds up because the head is caught, the cable will slip inside the tool – you will hear a rushing sound – or it will kink. Stop the drive and loosen the front wing screw to release the tension from the cable.

After cleaning, rinse the cable with clean water if necessary and push it back into the drum, where it can dry in a well-ventilated place. Spraying it with a suitable oil protects against corrosion and extends its service life.
